William J. Kinsman Jr, age 80, of Weymouth, passed away suddenly at home on July 25, 2025. William was born on April 23, 1945, in Boston to William J. Kinsman Sr. and Helen Kinsman (Collins). He was born and raised in Boston until age 12, when his family moved to Weymouth. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1965 before proudly serving in the U.S. Navy as part of the Mobile Construction Battalion, where he served until his honorable discharge.
In 1973, William began his career with the Weymouth Police Department, where he served until his retirement. He met his wife Muriel at church in 2004, and they married the following year. Together, they enjoyed long walks at Nantasket Beach and shared a love of reading, enjoying any book they could find, most often from his stepson Donald. William enjoyed trips to the gun club with his son and stepson, as well as time spent appreciating and caring for animals, especially feeding the birds in his yard.
William is survived by his loving wife Muriel J. Kinsman, his son William J. Kinsman III and his wife Misung, his stepson Donald Palmer and his wife Mary of Abington, MA. He is also survived by his siblings Michael D. Kinsman and his wife Joanne of Rockland, Daniel Kinsman and his wife Kathy of Westbrook, CT, Ellen Lavoie and her husband Richard of Strong, ME, and Theresa Martin of Houlton, ME He also leaves behind his grandchildren Sarah and Hannah Kinsman.
