William E Holbrook

William E. Holbrook Sr., age 84, of Braintree, passed away on June 29, 2025. William (Bill) was born on August 3rd, 1940, in Braintree, MA to Walter E. Holbrook and Fanella D. Amelia (Boutillier). He graduated from Braintree High School in 1958, and immediately began his career in the tech field at Grossman’s. After marrying and starting a family, he continued his professional journey with Northrop Grumman, where he worked for the remainder of his career. William had a lifelong commitment to learning and regularly took courses to continue his education.

A car enthusiast, he proudly owned the first vehicle in his family and had a deep love for Pontiacs. Bill cherished family summer vacations along the East Coast and was a passionate fan of the Red Sox and Celtics. He enjoyed family activities, including an evening cycling tradition in the neighborhood. Bill loved celebrating birthdays, attending cookouts, and any opportunity to gather with his family.

Bill is survived by his children: Debra L. Holbrook of Abington, Christine A. Collins of Weymouth, William E. Holbrook Jr. and his wife Lisa Reardon of Weymouth, Sandalee Holbrook of Braintree, his fiancé, Francis Benner of Hanson, and his former wife, Donna Sellgren of Weymouth. He was the loving grandfather "papa" of Melanie, Hayley, Steven, Alex, Liam, and Allyson, and great-grandfather "great-papa" to Jack, Sam, and Fiona. He was predeceased by his siblings, Russell Holbrook, Ellsworth “Sonny” Holbrook, Dorothy Holbrook, Hilda Holbrook, and Barbara Campbell, and his former wife, Shirley Archibald.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, July 2nd from 12–2 PM at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), South Weymouth. A service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately after at Blue Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William’s memory to Shriners Children's Hospital.
