William J. Gunville of Weymouth passed away after a lengthy illness. Bill was a lifelong Weymouth resident. He was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School and New England Institute. Bill had a lengthy career in the funeral industry, serving in many different roles. Bill was proud of his Weymouth roots particulary of his service to the town as Chairman of the board of Selectman. Bill was a man of deep faith having served as a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church and Catholic TV.
Bill was the son of David and Elgie (McAskill) Gunville. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Gail A. Lovett and brothers-in-law, Bob Clark and Richard Godin. Bill is survived by his daughter, Beth (Tom) Jacobs, his son William and daughter Amy. His Grandchildren Barrett (Mackenzie), Thomas (Chelsea) Jacobs. Also, his Great Grandchildren Jack and Maggie Jacobs. Bill is also survived by his sisters Mary Ann Clark and Claire Godin also by his Nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Billy on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 4-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Friends will gather in the funeral home on Saturday October 18, 2025 at 9:30am for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will take place at Immaculate Conception Church on Broad St. at 10:30am. Cremation will follow and then burial at a later date in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
