Vincent "Dusty" Roy, age 69, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 with his wife by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Dusty was the beloved husband and best friend of Heidi (O'Connor) Roy and the proud father of sons Aidan and Kian Roy and daughter Fiona Roy with whom he shared a birthday.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA, Dusty lived in several states from California to Virginia moving every 2 years during his childhood. Dusty settled in CT after receiving his Bachelors Degree from Western Connecticut State University meeting his wife years later. Dusty and Heidi moved to her home state of Massachusetts the year after they married. Dusty loved living and working in the Boston area and was very happy to call Hanover home for the past 28 years. He found his dream job just 6 years ago as a Senior Network Engineer for Ropes & Gray where he worked until his passing. Working with a team he loved and for a boss he considered a friend and who always made him feel appreciated brought him great joy.
Dusty had many hobbies and interests over his lifetime. He loved fishing and twice in 1 day caught a fish with his bare hands at Chapaquoit Beach in Falmouth. He played High School football in Texas and college football in CT. He loved reading, movies, cooking, and going on adventures big or small. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and nothing made him happier than to celebrate and attend all 3 of his children's graduations. Dusty will be remembered for his great strength, perseverance, fierce loyalty, protective nature, strong work ethic, sense of humor, for the deep love he had for both family and friends, and for giving the best hugs.
Dusty was preceded in death by his brother Chris Roy, his brother-in-law John (Jackie) O'Connor III, his favorite cat Lucky, and his parents Vincent and Frances Roy. He is survived by his beloved wife Heidi (O'Connor) Roy of Hanover, his children Aidan Roy and his wife Chloe, Kian Roy and Fiona Roy all of Hanover, his sister-in-law Joanne (Faraci) Roy of Southington, CT, his sister Lori Roy of South Carolina and several relatives on both sides he loved dearly.
The entire family thanks his doctors and the staff at Dana Farber and South Shore Hospital for giving him the very best care and for helping him complete his life journey with grace, comfort, and peace.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Dusty on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 4-6pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq) Weymouth, MA. A brief service will take place immediately following the visitation at 6pm.
