Thomas R. Otero

Thomas R. “Tommy” Otero, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2026, at the age of 29.

Tommy was born on June 13, 1997, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on a military base, where both of his parents were serving in the United States Marine Corps. Following their deployments, Tommy and his family moved north to Weymouth to be closer to family. He was raised and educated in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School with the Class of 2015.

Tommy was truly a jack of all trades and someone who was never particularly interested in being defined by one job, one place, or one path in life. What mattered much more to him were the people around him and the experiences they shared. He was happiest surrounded by his friends and family, and it rarely mattered what they were doing. Whether fishing, traveling, playing video games, or heading out on some spontaneous adventure, Tommy was usually ready to go as long as good company was involved.

He had an adventurous spirit and especially enjoyed traveling, with trips to Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and other destinations providing him with stories and experiences he treasured. At home, he enjoyed video games and could turn a friendly game with his buddies into an intensely competitive battle, usually accompanied by plenty of laughs and good-natured arguing.

More than anything, Tommy will be remembered for the goodness of his heart. He had a way about him that made it difficult to stay mad at him, even on the occasions when you may have had every intention of doing so. Tommy was quick to forgive, slow to judge, and had the uncommon ability to see the good in people before ever looking for their faults. He accepted people for who they were and formed friendships easily and genuinely. His life may not always have followed a conventional path, but Tommy cared deeply about the people in it, and those fortunate enough to know him understood the kindness and loyalty behind his easygoing nature.

Tommy was the beloved son of Michelle McKinnon and her husband Dave of Hull and Thomas Otero of New Hampshire. He was the loving brother of Matthew, Alexis, Jacob, Alyssa, and Tiffany Otero. He is also survived by his grandparents, Judith and Robert Fasci of Weymouth, Sandra DeLaRosa and her husband Joseph of Rhode Island, and Tony Otero of Missouri. Tommy was the cherished nephew of Walter Fasci and his wife Jessica, Christopher Fasci, Angelica Fasci, and Vania DeLaRosa,as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Tommy on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 4–8 PM in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Square), South Weymouth. A private ceremony and burial will be Wednesday Morning followed by a public invitation to the Weymouth Eagles, Aerie 2899, 1338 Washington Street, Weymouth, MA 02189 at 1pm where the celebration of Tommy’s life will continue in a more casual manner, sharing the stories, laughter, and memories that made him so loved.
