Sylvia E. Sawler

May 18, 1952 — March 8, 2024

Halifax

Sylvia E Sawler, (Bilewski), of Halifax, formerly of East Weymouth, died peacefully at her home of over 40 years after a brief illness.

Loving wife of the late John E. Sawler, loyal mother to Karen M. Sawler and Erika S. Morris. Beloved Nana to Jonathan T. Nagle and the late Timothy M. Sawler. Cherished mother in law to Albert W. Morris. Sister to Col. Herbert Bilewski, U.S Army (ret)of Va,The late Christina Thorne of Middleboro, and Cynthia King of Plymouth. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Born in Germany Sylvia and her mother Gisela came to America by steamer ship. Speaking no English Sylvia overcame the language barrier by immersing herself in books and music, a love she held for a lifetime.

Raised in East Weymouth by her parents Karl and Gisela. It was in "the birches" that she met future husband and father to her daughters, John. Married at the ages of 17 and 19 their marriage would last over 40 years until John's death in 2012. Her most satisfying job was being a homemaker. She was a caretaker to all, especially her best buddy Shadow.

Sylvia and John were founding members of the Upland Riders, proudly a family oriented motorcycle group. During their tenure the organization grew exponentially, doing charity work that made a difference locally.
Beautiful, salt of the Earth, no nonsense, honest and FUN.
