Steven E. Poreca, of Norwell, passed away on September 3rd, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Quincy on October 7, 1962, he was the son of the late John F. Poreca and Rita L. Sullivan (Keefe). Steven was raised in Weymouth and graduated from North Weymouth Vocational High School.
He began his career working at Vesco Inc., his family’s business in Quincy, before apprenticing and joining the electricians’ union. With a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, Steven went on to establish Poreca Electric, which he proudly operated for 20 years.
Beyond his career, Steven was a man who embraced life to the fullest. For 37 years, he was a dedicated member of the South Shore Pool League, where he built lasting friendships and shared his love of the game. He also had a passion for motorcycling, playing darts, watching football, and participating in fantasy football. Above all, Steven will be remembered for his devotion to his friends and family and for the joy he brought to those around him.
Steven is survived by his son, Steven J. Poreca, and his fiancée, Misael Figueroa, of Brockton; his sister, Sharon L. Poreca, of Port Charlotte, FL; and his brother, John H. Mitchell, of Topsfield, MA. He leaves behind step siblings Vernon Harrison, George Harrison, Debbie Leavitt and Tessie Cirignano. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
Friends and family are invited for visiting hours from 4 - 6PM on Wednesday September 10th in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. Weymouth, MA 02190 in Columbian Square, prior to a Celebration of Life memorial service at 6PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steven’s memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
