Stephen Bergfors, age 77, of Weymouth passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Steve was the son of Carl Walter Bergfors and Dorothy Bergfors (Hoffman) and was raised and educated in Weymouth where he graduated from Weymouth High in 1964. He attended business school at Bryant and Stratton where he met his future wife, Lena. He joined the Army in 1968. After bootcamp he married Lena in 1971 and they settled in Weymouth where they lived and created fond memories for many years. Steve worked for many years at the family oil business, Quincy Oil Company and Lena worked as his father’s secretary.
After leaving Quincy Oil Steve worked as an insurance salesman and created many relationships with his clients over the years. Steve was dedicated to the community in many ways including being a long time member of the Weymouth Rotary Club and the Weymouth United Masonic Lodge. He was also a longtime member of the First Church in Weymouth where he served as financial secretary for many years.
Stephen is survived by his wife Lena Bergfors (Mancini) of Weymouth, his daughter Marisa Berquist of Rockland, his grandchildren Drew, Cole, and Liliana, his great-granddaughter Aurora, his sister Judith Belyea of Dover, New Hampsire, and his lifelong friends Paul and Marie Anderson of Hingham. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Steve on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 11-Noon in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place at 12pm immediately following the visitation. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery located in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Church in Weymouth at 17 Church St. Weymouth, MA 02189.
