Shew Jone Gin

Shew Jone Gin, age 87, of Quincy passed away on Saturday May 24, 2025 at CareOne Weymouth after a long illness. Born in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China he was the son of Wing Fong and Wai Wah Gin.

He and his family immigrated to the United States in January of 1967. To support his family he worked at various Chinese restaurants in the New York City and Boston areas where he worked his way up from Dishwasher to Head Chef. Before his retirement he was employed with Boston University’s dining hall.

You could often Find Shew Jone working in his garden or caring for his indoor plants that adorned his house.

He is survived by his wife Mee Chu Tsang, daughter Soman “Sandra” Wong, son Man Wai Gin his wife Monica “Monique” Gachoka and his ex-wife Wei Lugin and his daughter Shuiman “Susan” Finkelstein and her husband Russell Finkelstein. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Kristina Wong, Tracie Wong, Kenneth Wong, Geoffrey Gin, Muturi Gachoka, Fridah Gachoka, Kelly Finkelstein and Jaimie Finkelstein.

Shew Jone is predeceased by his youngest daughter Oiman Gin, first wife Chau Ming Lau and son in Law Cheung Wing “Raymond” Wong.

There will be a brief viewing on Monday June 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at CC Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth, MA 02190. There will be light prayers to close the viewing prior to a graveside service at Central Cemetery located at 324 North Street, Randolph, MA 02368 at 11:30am.
