Robert Edward Vinton, aged 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 2, 2023. Robert was born in Weymouth, raised, and educated in Braintree where he graduated from Braintree High School. After high school he attended Northeastern University, and after 4 years of dating he finally got to marry his high school sweetheart, Jean, “the girl he chased around in high school and caught her by pulling her gold chain” and the two settled in Braintree where they raised their beautiful family.

Robert was a talented technical engineer, he worked for ITEK, SALA, and UL. When Robert wasn’t working proudly as an engineer, he had many hobbies including woodworking, golf, photography, model making and sailing on his sailboat, the Odysea. He was also a member of the Braintree Free Masons and attended Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Grille 151, formerly at the Hearth and Kettle, weekly with his good friends.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Vinton (Tirrell), his loving daughters, Lori Bruni and her husband Anthony of Weymouth, Cheri Fithian and her husband Bruce of Greer, South Carolina. Robert is also survived by his grandchildren, James, Alysse, Caleb, Nathan, Sandro and Daland, and his brother Ronald Vinton of Weymouth.

Services for Robert will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Shore Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all in the palliative care unit for their immeasurable care and compassion to Robert and his family.
