Rita Agnes Flaherty of Bridgewater, MA passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2025 at the age of 83. Rita was born on January 4th, 1942 in Boston to the late John J. and Mary P. Flaherty (Doherty) and was proudly raised in Boston.
After high school, Rita worked for many years at Stone and Webster and later moved on to work at the Teamsters International Labor Union. She eventually retired closing a fulfilling chapter of hard work and dedication.
Rita embraced life with joy and adventure, splitting her time as a snowbird between her home in Bridgewater and her home in Naples, FL. She cherished spending time with her friends and family and was rarely seen without her iconic cooler of Miller Lite nearby. A passionate fan of word puzzles and a die-hard supporter of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, Rita was known for her spirited personality and zest for life.
Rita is survived by her nieces Linda Haas and her husband Greg of East Bridgewater, Nancy Garner and her husband Gerry of East Bridgewater, and Carol Kenny and her husband John of Holbrook; as well as her great friend Mary Anne Wilson and her husband Jack of Taunton.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, May 13th from 830AM to 1030AM, in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home in Weymouth. There will be a funeral Mass at 1100AM at the St. John's Catholic Church in East Bridgewater, MA. Burial will take place immediately after at the Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MA.
