Richard Cushing Keenan

Richard C. Keenan, age 77, of South Weymouth, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.  Richard was born and raised in Dorchester in St. Margaret's Parish.  After graduating from English High School in 1964, Richard served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.  He retired from New England Telephone after a thirty-five year career.

Richard was known for his welcoming personality and his friendly smile.  With a firm handshake and a witty remark from him, you had a friend for life.  Richard adored his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He was a friend of Bill W's for many years.

Richard was predeceased by his parents John and Diana Keenan (McCarthy) and his brother John Keenan. He is survived by his beloved wife Diane Keenan (Panagos), loving father of Richard Keenan, Timothy Keenan and his wife Megan, John O'Donnell, and Anne Borini, cherished Papa of Liam, Kiersten, Kylie, Madison, and Michael, and his siblings Diane Qualter and James Keenan, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Richard on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9am Tuesday morning for a Celebration of Life prior to the funeral mass in honor of Richard's life at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth. Cremation will follow. Donations may be made in memory of Richard to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.com.
