Patricia L. Ruane

Pat Ruane (Horton) of Hingham passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 91. Pat was raised and educated in Dorchester and graduated from St Gregory High School. After graduating, she achieved her Nursing degree from the Boston City Hospital, where she began her nursing career. Ultimately, she married the love of her life Paul, and stayed home to raise the family.

Pat was a woman with a big heart. She was a Pioneer Resident at Linden Ponds, Hingham and started the annual baby shower held there to benefit the Friends of the Unborn, an organization she volunteered at for 30 years. Pat enjoyed photography, was an avid reader and loved baking. She was especially known for her sugar squares and mint brownies. Above all else, Pat was a friend to all she came across and was always devoted to her family.

Pat was predeceased by her husband Paul Ruane. She was the loving mother of Beth Griffin of Duxbury, Dave Ruane and his wife Cheryl of Hanson, Linda Jones and her husband Steve of Agawam, Diane Farrell and her husband David of Weymouth. She was the cherished Gramma of Alex, Lindsay, Shannon, Calyn, Austin, Eric and CJ. She was predeceased by her siblings Sr. Kathleen (Sister of Notre Dame), Claire and Dick.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of Pat on Thursday August 14, 2025, from 8-9:30 AM in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass will follow at the St. Francis Xavier Church at 10AM. Burial will take place at the Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to The Friends of the Unborn in Quincy.
