Mary E. Murphy

Mary Elizabeth (Mulhern) Murphy, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 14, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mary was born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts and remained deeply connected to her New England roots and Irish heritage throughout her life. Mary met her loving husband, Joe “Wally” after he completed his service in the Navy and became a talented carpenter. They married on September 26th, 1959. They began their family in Roslindale and later moved to South Weymouth in search of a better life, leaving us with many fun and cherished memories.

Mary will be remembered for her deep attachment to family, and the many memories she created with those who knew her over the course of her long life. Her family will carry forward both the lessons she taught and the moments they shared. She loved her grandkids, long walks, gardening, bowling, and of course the “Red Sox”.

In addition to the many fond memories of raising her family in Weymouth with her husband, Joe, Mary cherished countless trips to Ogunquit, Maine, and many years of travel after retirement.

She was the beloved wife of the late, Joseph Francis Murphy, and predeceased by her parents, Matthew, and Isabella Mulhern; her brothers, Philip Mulhern of Melrose, Massachusetts, and Matthew Mulhern of Fort Worth, Texas.

She is survived by many loving relatives beginning with her sister, Sarah Pray of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts; her children, Joseph Murphy of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Michael Murphy of Montgomery, Texas, and Maryellen Zedlar of The Woodlands, Texas; her grandchildren, Matthew Murphy, Veronica Zedlar, Mikayla Murphy, Christopher Zedlar, Ashley Murphy, and Emily Murphy; and her great-granddaughter, Rowan Murphy.

A service will be held later in May/June.
