Mary Therese Flanagan-O’Brien (Martocchio) passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023. Mary was born in Watertown and raised and educated in Weymouth. After graduating from Weymouth High School, Mary went on to attend The Catherine Laboure School of Nursing and Healthcare. She then started a family and raised her loving children in Weymouth. Mary then went to work at Saint Margaret’s Hospital in the Labor and Delivery unit, then on the South Shore Hospital Emergency Room and IV Team until deciding to move onto hospice care at the Norwell NVNA and Hospice after the passing of her beloved sister Katherine.

Mary was a devoted mother and friend. She enjoyed socializing, listening and dancing to the blues. But above all she loved spending time with her children, and many grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, Brenda Barillot of Weymouth, Dennis Flanagan and his wife Ann of Weymouth, Peter Flanagan and his wife Doris of Weymouth and Christopher Flanagan of Hingham and his partner Mary Barbuto. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Barillot, Jeanine Hall and her husband Glenn, Carleen Flanagan and her wife Tiffany, Tamara Lundgren and her husband Dylan, Rhianna Jones and her husband TJ, Miranda Miele and her husband Matthew, Sierra Flanagan, Nichole Flanagan and her fiance Travis Parslow, Amanda Flanagan, Daniel Flanagan and Ryan Flanagan. Mary was also loved by her great grandchildren, Alexis, Brooke, Christopher, Nathan, and Finn and her siblings Reverend Peter Martocchio, and the late Katherine Grimes, and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Mary will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norwell NVNA.
