Mark S. Manning, born September 9, 1960, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, after battling complications from pneumonia. The family expresses thanks to the dedicated staff of the South Shore Hospital.
Mark was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joseph E. Manning and H. Rita Manning. He is survived by his siblings: Paul B. Manning and his wife Berenice of Oakland, Maryland; Kerrie A. Chambers and her husband Steven of Orlando, Florida; Kathleen A. Pickard of Orlando, Florida, predeceased by her husband Gary; and Michelle R. Conway of Abington, Massachusetts. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Mackenzie, Erika, Morgan, Joseph, and Benjamin.
Mark suffered a brain injury as an infant, which left him with special needs. Despite this, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. He attended school and later resided in a group home with RTR in Norwell, Massachusetts, where he was well cared for and deeply valued. Mark was a fun-loving, happy soul with a gentle heart. He loved McDonald’s cheeseburgers, turkey, and scrambled eggs, and he never missed his Coke—especially if someone tried to take it away!
His parents raised him to be a true gentleman. Mark never judged others and was rarely negative, greeting everyone he met with kindness and warmth. He touched countless lives and survived many challenges throughout his life, earning him the affectionate nickname “the man with nine lives.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at RTR in Norwell for their exceptional care and compassion. Additional thanks to Mark's Day program, Habilitation Assistance Corp. for their developmental care with Mark. Mark especially cherished holidays and weekends spent with his baby sister Michelle at her home in Abington, where she played an instrumental role in his care for many years. A special thank-you as well to Aunt Sheila for their treasured lunch and dinner dates.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Mark on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 9-10am in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 10am. Burial to follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Weymouth.
