Mark A. Gronberg, of Yarmouth Port and formerly of Weymouth and Bridgewater, passed away on January 11th, 2026, at the age of 70. He was the son of the late Karl H. Gronberg and Elizabeth M. Gronberg (Pietila).
Born on July 29th, 1955, and raised in Weymouth, Mark was a graduate of Weymouth South High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University, where he began his professional journey through a co-op position at Brockton Hospital. What started as an internship grew into a distinguished career in healthcare administration, as Mark worked his way up to Chief Financial Officer at Brockton Hospital. He later held leadership roles at Quincy Medical Center, Morton Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Milton, where he remained until his retirement.
Mark and his wife Karen raised their family in Bridgewater. He generously volunteered his time as a youth hockey coach and Little League baseball coach, finding great joy in mentoring young athletes and supporting his children’s activities. In later years, Mark and Karen moved to Yarmouth Port, where they enjoyed a slower pace of life together.
Mark embraced life fully. He loved golfing, camping, and swimming laps at the YMCA in Bridgewater. He had a special fondness for travel and absolutely cherished cruises, particularly trips to Bermuda and Alaska, which brought him great happiness and lasting memories.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife Karen T. Gronberg (Weston); his loving children, Mark A. Gronberg of Yarmouth Port, Megan L. Carter and her husband Scott of Mendon, and Kurt M. Gronberg and his wife Kelly of Weymouth; and his cherished grandchildren, Colton Carter and Weston Gronberg, who were a constant source of pride and joy.
He was predeceased by his beloved son, Matthew J. Gronberg, and his brother, Karl M. Gronberg.
