Margaret A. "Peggy" Caterer (Roman) of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully on April 26th, 2025. Peggy was born on April 24th,1947 in Dorchester to Benjamin S. and Helen M. Roman (McFeeley). She was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Fontbonne Academy, Milton. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Boston State College. As a freshman at Boston State, she was struggling with Physical Science 101. Luckily her classmate, Glenn Caterer, was willing to share his notes. The rest is history and they spent 58 years together in wedded bliss.
In 1972, Peggy and Glenn moved to South Weymouth, where they raised their family and lived for the rest of their lives together. Peggy began her career as a teacher. In the mid 1980s, she started managing the family photography business, PhotoQuick of Quincy, where she worked until 2007. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and found joy in time spent with her family, whom she cherished more than anything. Peggy was active at the Weymouth Club, had a love for gardening, followed all the Boston professional sports teams and spent several years coaching youth soccer in the newly formed Weymouth Girls Soccer league. Peggy's mothering skills were legendary and she loved the phrase, "You don't raise kids, you raise adults." She was extremely proud of the two adults that she raised. Her grandchildren are "perfect" -- just like their “Meemo.”
Peggy is survived by her beloved husband Glenn Caterer; their children John G. Caterer and his wife Laura of Hanson, MA, and Jill K. Cotter of Needham, MA; and her grandchildren Jake, Lexi, Andrew, and Abby. She also leaves behind her siblings Joseph Roman of Plymouth, ReRe Quinn of Naples, Florida, and Jack Roman of Milton. She was predeceased by her brothers Edward and Richard Roman. She had many adoring nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, May 2nd from 3pm - 6pm at the Weathervane Golf Club Tavern, 117 Clubhouse Dr. in South Weymouth. Flowers can be sent to the Weathervane Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggy’s memory to www.jogyourmemory5k.org.
