Kathleen M. MacDonald

Kathleen M. MacDonald, age 94, a lifelong Weymouth resident passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Kathy graduated in 1948 from Weymouth High School. She went right into the workforce at Boston Gear Works, then Bethleen Steel, and finally College Town which was her favorite job.

In retirement Kathy volunteered at South Shore Hospital on the 6th floor for years and over 30 years at St. Vincent DePaul of Abington. She was a faithful, heartfelt, and very generous women. She donated a rescue boat and dry suits to protect Firefighters of the Weymouth Fire Department, and also purchased & funded the training of two K9s for Weymouth Police. 

She was the partner of the late George Shepard of Abington, and is survived by her cousins Joan Tirrell and her husband Dr. Gene Tirrell of Braintree, Mary Lou Dorman of Weymouth, and her friend and caretaker Edward Hancock of Weymouth.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the Funeral Mass for Kathleen on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 11:30am in the St. Francis Xavier Church located at 234 Pleasant St. Weymouth, MA 02190. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery on Route 18 in S. Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital at www.StJude.com
