Joseph P. Palingo, age 95, of Braintree, passed away on March 27, 2023. Joe was born in Brooklyn, NY then moved to Boston at the age of eleven.
Joe left school early to work with his father driving a horse-drawn ice and coal wagon. Joe was in the fuel business his entire life, working his way to starting Palingo Oil in the 1940’s.
Joe married his beloved wife, Dorothy, in 1950 and they settled in Braintree where they raised their family together. They created countless memories while summering at the family home in Plymouth. He also loved boating on Billington Sea where he taught many how to waterski.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy Palingo (Gray), he is survived by his children Peter J. Palingo and his wife Judy of S. Weymouth, Paul R. Palingo and his wife Roberta of Plymouth, Mary Ellen Palingo and her partner Mary Sweeney of S. Weymouth, and Joseph G. Palingo and his wife Jaime of Carver, his grandchildren Cindy, Jill, Robert, Pete, Angela, Ashley, and Chris and his eight great grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his companion of many years Dorothy Raimondi of Braintree and was predeceased by his siblings James, Ralph, Frank, Dominic, Antoinette, Lena, Helen, and Dorothy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Joe on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4-7pm in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place Saturday morning in the funeral home at 10am, followed by burial at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
