John W. Langill, Jr., a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2025, at the age of 56 due to a sudden heart attack while in Florida.
John was born on June 1st, 1968 in Quincy to John Sr. and Geraldine (Doyle) Langill. He was raised in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth South High School. He went on to study culinary arts at New England College.
John was the proud proprietor of his family’s restaurant in Hanover for many years and later became the owner and operator of The Royal Apple Co., where he became known for crafting the best caramel apples anywhere. John always had an entrepreneurial spirit and was even in the process of implementing a new business venture at the time of his passing.
All that knew John loved him for his sense of humor, quick wit and kind heart. He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated to his business and was always willing to lend a helping hand. We will miss his laugh, warm hugs, quick phone calls just to say hi, and sense of adventure.
John is survived by his loving family, daughter Kaileigh (Langill) Capasso and husband Steven, son, Jack Ryan Langill, of Dover, Tennessee. He leaves his sisters, Deborah (Langill) Robie of Rockland, Cynthia Langill of Weymouth, and Kathleen (Langill) Yacano and husband Frank Yacano of Quincy. He is survived by adoring nieces and nephews, Adrienne (Robie) Morin and husband Chris Morin of Beverly, Katelyn (Robie) Garay and husband Carlos Garay of Henrico, VA., Nathaniel Robie and wife Jackie Robie of Mechanicsville, VA., Johnathon Yacano and wife Lexie Yacano of Nashua, NH. and Joseph Yacano of Beverly, along with eight grand nieces and nephews. Also, his former wife Patricia Holbrook and stepdaughter, Brittany McMakin.
John’s kindness, big smile and unwavering dedication to his family will never be forgotten. He will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for John on Sunday, May 4th, from 1 – 4 PM at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), South Weymouth. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 4 PM in the funeral home.
