Jeannette M. Cardinal

Jeannette M. Cardinal, formerly of East Bridgewater and East Weymouth, passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on December 1, 1936, in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale “Pat” Scopa and Angelina “Lena” Scopa (Costa) and was raised in East Boston. She was a graduate of Weymouth High School.

Shortly after high school, Jeannette met the love of her life, Joseph, and they were married on April 21, 1957. Together they built a loving home and raised their family in Weymouth. Jeannette worked at Weymouth Light and Power before dedicating herself to raising her children. Once her youngest was in high school, she began working at East Weymouth Savings Bank, where she remained until her retirement.

Jeannette enjoyed traveling and created many cherished memories with her family on trips to Italy and Hawaii, a cruise to Bermuda, visits to Disney, and frequent travels to Florida with her husband Joe. She loved to crochet and quilt, generously donating many of her handmade afghans to charitable organizations. A woman of strong faith, she served as a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church.

Jeannette is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph R. Cardinal; her loving children, Deborah Rand and her husband John of Weymouth, Joseph Cardinal and his wife Karen of East Bridgewater, and William Cardinal and his wife Lori of South Boston; and her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Rand and his wife Katie, Michael Rand, Alexandra Cardinal, Samantha Cardinal, and Kristen Cardinal. She was the proud great-grandmother of Adalynn, George, and Ryleigh. She is also survived by her siblings, Paul Scopa and his wife Nancy, and Robert Scopa and his wife Wendy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannette’s memory to the American Heart Association.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Saturday, April 18 at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St., Weymouth, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
