James Anthony Harrington

James Anthony Harrington of Weymouth passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, surrounded by his family. Jim was raised and educated in Rehoboth and graduated from Rehoboth High School with the class of 1971.  After graduation he attended Bridgewater State College and achieved his bachelor’s degree in education. After teaching in New Hampshire he transitioned into Sales and Engineering for IT products. He enjoyed a long career in that field working with Sun Microsystems and HP. His passion for teaching came full circle when he began teaching and training at the corporate level until his retirement in 2016.

He had a passion for golf, was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed spending time at his family’s beach trailer at Horseneck Beach. Jim had a very special role in his immediate and extended family. He was the choreographer of the “Cousin Cookout”, a role that kept generations of family members in touch year after year. These large family reunions had a life of their own and the younger generation continues to look forward to the tradition every year.

Jim was the loving husband of Susan Harrington of Weymouth. He was the devoted father of Catherine Miller, her husband Michael, Parker Harrington, his wife Lauren and Jeremy Harrington. He was the cherished grand father of Harper, Brady, Samuel, London and Nora. Jim also leaves behind his siblings Joseph, John, Jeffrey, Justin, Melissa and was predeceased by his sister Marla. Jim had a large extended family consisting of 28 first cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends that will all miss him dearly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of Jim on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 4-7PM at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St., Weymouth, MA. A memorial service will immediately follow in the funeral home at 7PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson's Association in Jim's memory.
