Helen Marie Roche

December 16, 1937 — June 2, 2025

Weymouth

Helen Marie Roche (Gilmore) 87, of Weymouth passed away on June 2 of 2025. Born in Boston and raised in Quincy Point, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Gilmore (McCabe). Helen married the love of her life, James Roche, whom she met working at the Lincoln theatre. In classic Helen Roche fashion this "meet cute" took place over a hilarious practical joke. Apart from spending time with her husband and family, Helen enjoyed ice skating, cooking and writing cards. Her thoughtfulness and enthusiastic love for her very large family and group of friends will be remembered fondly. Those of us lucky enough to have been in her orbit received so much love from Helen.

In her youth, Helen was the proud President of the Quincy High School Girls Club. A member of the Drum and Bugle Corps, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a supporter of the Cub Scouts. Helen also worked at the New England Telephone Company for 17 years and found community in Al-Anon for many years as well.

Helen is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James Roche of Weymouth and her five children: Judi Fowler, Sean Roche (Michelle), Marie O'Leary (James), James Roche (Catalina), and Kevin Roche (Sandi), and her grandchildren Joshua, Sara, Kristina, Ian, Connor, Kevin, Brendan, Haley, her great-granddaughter, Sloane, a brother, Joseph Gilmore (Joyce), and sisters, Catherine Nissle (Don), Janet Riley (Tom), Mary MacDonald (John), her sisters-in-law Margi Roche and Pat Modale. Helen is predeceased by her son-in-law Michael Fowler, her sisters, Judy Gilmore, Roberta Ellis, and Carol Parsley and her husband, William Parsley Sr., her brother James Gilmore, her brother-in-law George Roche, and sister-in-law Pat Roche.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for Helen on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4-7pm at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St.(Columbian Sq.), S.
