Frederick L. Riley Jr., 86, died Sept. 1, 2025, in Weymouth, Mass. He was a great man who lived a great life and was deeply proud of his family.

Born Sept 21, 1938 to Frederick L. and Anna M. Riley (Farrell), in Dorchester and later moved to North Quincy where he met his beloved wife, Dot, of 64-years. He was a proud graduate of Boston Latin School Class of 1956 and received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University in 1960. He joined the Navy in 1960 and retired with the prestigious rank of Captain from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1998. He also had a distinguished career of 30-years with Verizon where he retired as a District Manager.

A devoted husband to Dorothy Riley and beloved father to Stephen and his wife Nancy Riley, Susan Prescott and her husband Victor Bertrand, and Janet Riley. Proud Grampy to Matthew and his wife Kristen Prescott, Julia Prescott, Trevor and his wife Rachel Riley, Jonathan Riley, and Connor Riley. He raised his family in Hingham before retiring to the Weathervane community in Weymouth.

The happiest times of his life was spending summers on the beach in Dennisport, Cape Cod with his cherished family and friends. In retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and playing golf and winning at poker with his Weathervane friends.

He will be buried with a private ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Family and friends will be warmly invited to a Celebration of Fred's Life.
