Elizabeth Chmielinski

Apr 1, 1935 — Jul 22, 2026

Weymouth, MA

Elizabeth (Gentek) Chmielinski passed away on July 22, 2026, after a long diagnosis of dementia.

Daughter of Stanley and Marianna Gentek, Elizabeth was born and raised in Chojnowo, Poland.  Elizabeth worked on the family farm and learned to be a seamstress.  In her 30s, Elizabeth traveled to Boston on two occasions, ultimately making America her permanent home. Through determination and hard work, she built a life centered on family, perseverance, and caring for those she loved.  Elizabeth was well-known for her forgiving heart.

Elizabeth was a gifted seamstress who worked in Dorchester for many years, sewing Major League Baseball caps and other clothing items. Known for her exceptional talent and attention to detail, she took great pride in her work and was admired for the skill and craftsmanship she brought to every project.

Outside of her career, Elizabeth found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her garden and spending time with her cherished dog companions, Ruby, Lou, and Lucky, who brought her endless comfort and happiness. Elizabeth was a master knitter, who did not use patterns.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Corkery and her husband, John, of Weymouth, and Barbara Chludzinski and her husband, Michael, of Connecticut. She is also survived by her sisters, Anna Laszczkowska and Genevieve Damiecki; sister-in-law Evelyn Rudolph; along with many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Robert Chmielinski. She was also predeceased by her brother, Stanley Gentek; and sister, Jolanta Skrodzcka.
