Eleanor Rose Ahearn of Braintree passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at the age of 83. Eleanor was born in Weymouth and moved to Dorchester where she graduated from Hyde Park High School, before returning to Weymouth to raise her family. For many years Eleanor was a realtor with Tullish & Clancy Real Estate and member of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
Eleanor possessed a spirit and vitality that energized every room she went into. She was a bright light and captivated people with her one-of-a-kind bellowing laugh and a natural ability to make friends everywhere she went. She loved bowling, playing bocce on her Florida trips, Bingo and Mahjong. She was a member of the Red Hats in Florida as well. Eleanor is one of those people that will not soon be forgotten and will be missed dearly.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of 63 years to Melbert Ahearn of Braintree. She was the loving mother of Arleen Ahearn Cavanaugh, her husband Scott of South Boston, Neil Ahearn, his wife Yvonne of Kailua, HI and was predeceased by her daughter Rosemarie Ahearn. Eleanor was fortunate enough to have 2 grandchildren Dean and Braeden and was the sister of Richard Molisse of Weymouth. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of Eleanor on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 4-7PM in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, Weymouth. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 9AM in the funeral home followed by a mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10AM. A burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Eleanor’s memory to St. Jude Hospital.
