Douglas (“Doug”) Richard MacDonald, Esq., 66, of Weymouth, passed away in his family’s embrace on April 3, 2026 — Good Friday. He’d appreciate the irony.
Born in Detroit Michigan to Elizabeth and Douglas (senior), Doug had a deep passion for music and movies, something that was ingrained in his children. He was an avid Boston sports fan, particularly the Bruins and Patriots later in life. A lover of food, he delighted in cooking new recipes and exploring the restaurants of greater Boston. If you needed a restaurant recommendation, rest assured he had one. As an attorney, he would be described as unrelenting. Doug was fluent in Sarcasm. His dry sense of humor and wit were unmatched. While it is true that he did not suffer fools, Doug came alive in good conversation, especially with those whose company he cherished.
Honoring Doug's wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life rather than formal services.
His memory lives on in his children, Amy, Greg and his wife Angela, and Mark MacDonald; his ex-wife and friend, Terry MacDonald; his siblings, Pam Hurlburt and Scott MacDonald; his cousin, Ann Acker and her husband Victor; and his uncle, Kent MacDonald and his husband Tony Valentine.
As one of Doug's favorite bands, Steely Dan, sang: "This brother is free."
Cheers, Doug. We love and miss you.
