Dorothy Hatch

October 27, 1923 — June 11, 2023

     Dorothy Rita (Schaller) Hatch October  27, 1923 - June 11, 2023

Dorothy passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on June 11, 2023. Born in New York City on Oct 27, 1923 and moved to Quincy, MA as a young child. Dorothy lived in Quincy Point and graduated from Quincy High School. She moved to Weymouth, MA and lived there for over 70 years where she raised her family.

Daughter of the late Frank and Blanche (Porter) Schaller and sister of the late Blanche Wellman. She is survived by her beloved husband Harold A Hatch, of Weymouth and children Linda Broadford, of Weymouth, Steven Broadford, of Marblehead, Christine Hatch, of Lunenburg. She is predeceased by her son John (Jack) Broadford. She is also survived by two nieces Louise Morrill, and Debbie Juckett and her husband Mark Juckett. Dorothy is survived by several grand nieces and nephews.

Always a hard worker, Dorothy never truly retired. At the age of 26 years old she bought her first apartment building in Quincy Point of which she still owned at the time of her passing. In later years she and her husband produced The Hollywood Spectacular Stunt Show, a wild west show that performed all over the country. Her greatest joy was raising her family. She was a world adventurer with a lifelong curiosity of what was around the next bend, always taking the road less traveled. It was important to her to keep up with current events and know what was going on in the world. She loved nature and all things that grew and blossomed. She enjoyed all animals, especially feeding the birds. Music and dancing were her pleasure. Ever the optimist, she lived with great joie de vivre. She was a light in the world.

The family wish to extend our gratitude to Dr Heidi Auerbach and RN Cindy Getman and all the Nurses of the Norwell VNA and Hospice for their loving care. A Celebration of Life will be held June 24, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Hingham Community Center, 70 South St, Hingham, MA 02043.
