Denise Mathewson

Denise Mathewson, of Weymouth, passed away on August 30, 2026. She was the daughter of Wilfred B. Mathewson and the late Dorothy A. (Clapp) Mathewson.

Denise was known for her sweet nature, warm smile, and genuinely happy spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went, no matter the circumstances. Denise did not know hate or jealousy; instead, she approached life with kindness, happiness, and an open heart. Her positive outlook and gentle personality touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A lover of all types of music, Denise found joy in the simple things in life. She was a big fan of Elmo and especially enjoyed sitting down with a good cup of coffee. Those who knew her will fondly remember her cheerful personality and her familiar saying, “Cool it.”

Denise will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she brightened. She leaves behind a lasting memory of kindness, happiness, and friendship that will remain with everyone who knew and loved her.

She was the sister of Debra Mathewson and her partner, Jim, of Bourne, Massachusetts, and Donna and Terry of Silver Lake, New Hampshire.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Denise on Saturday, September 5, 2026, 9:45 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Square), South Weymouth, followed by a burial at Old North Cemetery.
