Claire A. McCaul

Claire A. (Powers) McCaul, age 96, of Weymouth, passed away on March 14, 2024.

Claire was born and raised in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester. She was the daughter of the late Richard F. Powers and Mary (McCarthy) Powers. She attended St. Williams school and graduated from St. Patrick's High School, class of 1946.  Claire worked at South Shore Hospital and retired after twenty six years of service.

Claire enjoyed bowling, dancing, golfing and travelling but most of all was devoted to her family. She enjoyed activities at the Whipple Center and outings and friendships made through South Shore Singles.

Claire was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis H. McCaul and siblings, Eleanor Tully, Msgr. Robert Powers, Richard Powers, Paul Powers, and Marie Schoonmaker. Claire leaves her three daughters, Diane Quimby and her husband, Don, Barbara Leary and her husband, Paul, and Susan Belcastro and her husband, Bob. Claire was also loved by ten grandchildren, Keith Quimby and wife, Allison, Scott Quimby, Marc Quimby, Ryan Leary and his wife, Teresa, Colleen Leary, Michael Leary, Kyle Leary, Andrew Belcastro, Alyssa Cummings and her husband, Shawn and Adam Belcastro. She also leaves her six great grandchildren, Emma, Sara, Charlotte, Wesley, Avery, and Caelan and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Pope Nursing Home for their compassion and care of Claire during her time there.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Claire on Wednesday March 20, 2024, from 4-7pm, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather the following morning at the funeral for a Celebration of Life for Claire at 9am, prior to the Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Church at 10am. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Francis Xavier Church.
