Claire I. Grant

December 3, 1930 — November 29, 2025

Duxbury, MA

Claire I. (Burke) Grant of Duxbury, formerly of Braintree, Weymouth, and Lake Havasu City, AZ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, just days before her 95th birthday.

Loving wife for 44 years to the late Robert E. Grant. Devoted mother to Karen G. Griffin and husband, John, of Naples, FL and Duxbury, and Nana to her cherished granddaughters, Lauren, Katie, and Christine Griffin.

Claire was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Irene (Klaus) Burke, and the late May (MacDonald) Burke, all of Braintree.

Claire found joy in life’s simple pleasures and meaningful adventures alike. She loved watching golf and football, tending to her garden, and filling her home with music, especially at the piano. In her younger years she was an avid golfer and bowler, cherishing the camaraderie and fun they brought. She also had a deep appreciation for traveling with her family. In recent years she fulfilled two cherished bucket-list journeys: visiting the National Shrine of St. John Neumann in Philadelphia and traveling to Ireland, where she spent treasured time with her beloved Irish relatives. Claire’s interests and experiences reflected her warm spirit, her curiosity, and her enduring sense of connection to the people and places she loved.

Claire was active in her community including the Weymouth Garden Club, a volunteer at South Shore Hospital and a secretary to the Friends, a member of Weymouth’s year-long 350th Anniversary Committee, Weymouth’s 4th of July Committee, and volunteered with Bob at the hospital in Lake Havasu City.

Claire sadly leaves her siblings including her sister, Marilyn Harrington and husband Edward, of Braintree, and brothers Robert Burke (late wife, Mary) of Weymouth, Russell Burke and wife Polly, of Braintree, and Paul Burke and wife Monica, of Marshfield. She is predeceased by her brothers Albert Burke, of Dorchester, and Charles E. Burke Jr. and his wife, Harriette, of Braintree. She also sadly leaves Marylyn (McCulloch) Douthit (late husband, Paul) and their family, of Texas. Claire loved her cousins, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
