Charles Patrick Murphy

Mar 17, 1934 — Aug 27, 2026

Charles Patrick “Charlie” Murphy, of Rockland, originally from Newton died August 27, 2026 at the age of 92 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha “Weezy” Murphy for 70 years. He was the son of the Late Matthew and Hannah Murphy (Cronin).

Family meant everything to Charlie. He was the loving father of Stephen Matthew Murphy and his wife Charlene, Barbara Ann Bowen, Paul Duncan Murphy and his wife Elena, Susan Louise Talkowski, the late Charles Patrick Murphy and Vincent Paul Murphy and Russell Ryan who he considered a son. Charlie was the brother of John “Leo” Murphy, Catherine Creighton and Patricia Vaccaro. He was the proud “Papa” to Erin Munro and her husband John, Benjamin Murphy and his wife Shelby, Mollie Knight and her husband Michael, Stephen Murphy Jr. and his wife Nicole, Karissa Murphy, Danielle Murphy and her fiancé Andrew, Charles Murphy and his fiancé Mandi, Charles Bowen and his wife Jenelle, Parker Bowen, Chelcie Morency and her husband Dan, Amanda Murphy, Angela Landry and her husband Jeffrey, Kathleen Talkowski and Joseph Talkowski. He is survived by 16 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his best friend James Garvey and his late friend Paul Peruzzi.

Charlie was a man of faith who was devoted to the love of his life, Weezy, his family, and friends.  He was proud of many things, one being his time serving in the Army to protect his country.  He was also proud of his Irish Heritage and loved celebrating his birthday on St. Patrick's Day.  Charlie was a reliable, stand up man who would always be there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was extremely handy and could fix or build anything (usually with a cigar in his mouth).  He thought duct tape could fix anything, even cuts that probably need stitches.  He had a secret sweet tooth that was usually blamed on our mother, Weezy, and we will think of him whenever we have a non-pareil or a raspberry turnover.  Charlie was a devoted grandfather who made a special trip on Christmas morning to each of his grandchildren's houses, sharing in the joy of being with his family.  Although life will never be the same without Charlie, he is now at peace with the love of his life, hopefully relaxing and watching the Red Sox with a Dewars on the rocks in his hand.
