Carol Thompson, 82, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 3, 2025. Born on July 30, 1942, Carol lived a vibrant, active, and fulfilled life, known for her unconditional love, strength, and a big sense of humor. Married to her husband, Ken, for 65 years, Carol took pride in being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ken and Carol met in middle school, were married by 19, and have been in love ever since.
Carol supported her husband’s business, Hancock Electric Motor, for most of her life, partnering with Ken to build one of the most successful motor supply and repair companies in the Boston area. She was so proud of what she and her husband built, and was even more proud of her son, Scott, for continuing their legacy in taking over the business. In addition to her career, nothing made her happier than spending time with her family at the pool, on the boat, or in New Hampshire. She enjoyed every minute of visiting her son Steve and his wife Deborah in North Carolina, or shopping and laughing in NH with her daughter Susan. She loved being an active part of her grandchildren’s lives, from showing them off at the Church, trips to the Bargaineer, endless toast with cream cheese, and organizing baskets for the Church Fair. She made her family her priority every day of her life.
Outside of her family life, Carol was an active member of Christ Church Episcopal in Quincy. She spent much of her time alongside her mother, sister, and best friends in her beloved Church community. She took pride in planning the annual Church Fairs, volunteering at community events, and spending time with her Church family.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Ken Thompson, her two sons, Scott Thompson and Steve Thompson, her daughter, Susan McCarthy, and her sister, Ruth Fink. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Stephen, Alyssa, Emily, and Elizabeth, as well as her great-granddaughter, Harper. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Lillian and Fred Annis, and her brother, Mark Annis.
We will remember Carol for her sharp wit, quiet strength, and her fierce loyalty. She made people feel seen and valued, whether through a thoughtful handmade gift, a quiet gesture, or a joke told just when it was needed. Carol’s love, strength, and grace will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation for Carol on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth, MA 02190.
