Barbara Jean Gillespie

October 28, 1928 — June 21, 2025

Abington, MA

Barbara Jean (MacDonald) Gillespie of Abington passed away on June 21, 2025 after a sudden illness. She was born to the late Edward H and Edith (Steele) MacDonald in Quincy. Barbara lived in S. Weymouth for many years and later resided in Abington. 

Barbara is survived by her niece Marylou Allsopp as well as many other nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the much loved Diamond family. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Turner and her brothers Richard, Gordon, George, Kenneth and Ralph MacDonald. 

Barbara enjoyed cooking for people. Her "specialties" were lasagna, pastitsio, American chop suey and omelets. She also enjoyed Friday night get togethers with dear friends Gail Dobbins, Pamela Frizzell, Michael Diamond and their sister Janice Appleby, Barbara's god daughter. Barbara loved to scratch tickets and go to the dog track with her niece Marylou. Barbara was a kind, giving, loving person with a great sense of humor who will be dearly missed. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of Barbara on Thursday June, 26, 2025 from 9-10AM in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home at 10AM. The burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Barbara to Old Colony Hospice.
