Arthur (Bud) McCaffrey Jr. of Weymouth passed away on May 4, 2025. Bud was raised and educated in Braintree Highlands and graduated from Braintree High School with the class of 1960. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and proudly served on the Lake Champlain and USS Enterprise aircraft carriers. When his military duties were complete, he returned home to marry his sweetheart, start a family and begin his lifelong work.
Beginning with a lawn mower and a pickup truck, Bud grew his general contracting business, working until his retirement in the mid-2000s. He took pride in the business and the home he created with his wife Pat. Whether tackling endless DIY home projects or balancing the demands of running a small business, Bud and Pat were partners every step of the way.
Bud was a jack of all trades. When he wasn’t working you would find him tinkering with something, puttering around his garage or wowing us with his endless facts and famous one liners. Bud enjoyed audio books about history, watching sports, listening to old country music...the soundtrack to his life, and lazy days sitting on the back porch with family talking about the birds, funny stories, or the good good old days.
Loved in life by many, Bud was the cherished son of the late Arthur Sr. and Mary (Welsh) McCaffrey, and is survived by; his beloved wife of 61 years, Patricia (Briggs) McCaffrey of Weymouth, his loving children, Cheryl Walsh of Venice, FL, Son in Law Joseph Walsh of Abington, Scott McCaffrey of Abington, Arthur (Jay) McCaffrey, his wife Angelica of Venice, FL, Kelly Berthiaume, her husband Stephen of Hanson and Mary McCabe, her husband Jarrod of Riverside, RI.
