Adriano DelRosso, age 89, of South Weymouth passed away with his loving family by his side on April 29, 2025. Adriano was born August 28, 1935 in Anversa degli Abruzzi, Italy. He was the youngest son of Antonio and Anna (DiCesare) DelRosso, brother to Antonio DelRosso, and Francesca DelGreco. Adriano was born with American citizenship from his father, a US Army Veteran of WWI. After surviving the horrors of the WWII Nazi occupation of Italy, Adriano traveled to America at age 16. He lived with his cousins for nine years in Quincy, Enrico “William” and Serafina “Lena” (Marinilli) Stracco, and their children Enrico, Angela and Paul who he considered to be his second family. In Quincy he met and married the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” (Nickerson) DelRosso at St. John the Baptist Parish in Quincy, MA on June 12,1960. Happily married for 59 years prior to her passing in 2019, they settled in South Weymouth and raised their family.
On the first floor of their family home, Adriano started a thriving hair dressing salon, which he later transitioned into Adrian’s Jewelry Store, a South Shore landmark for 60 years. Adriano was an enthusiastic member of his community; an active member of the St. Francis Xavier Holy Name Society, who helped reestablish the parish youth hockey program, he was a Knighted Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5027, helped champion the DARE Program in Weymouth and was an active member of the Columbian Square Business Association. Adriano was also a longstanding and well respected member of the Weymouth Chapter of Rotary International, and recipient of its highest award, the Paul Harris Fellow, awarded to a Rotarian that has made outstanding contributions to the community.
Adriano is survived by his beloved children and their families. Antonio DelRosso of Weymouth, MA and his children David and Stephanie, Adriana DelRosso of Weymouth, MA, and Arthur and Jennifer (Williams) DelRosso of Bradenton, FL, and their children Nicholas and Sawyer (Knowlton) DelRosso of Montgomery, MA, Megan DelRossso of Manassas, VA, and William, Aiden and Ella of Bradenton, FL.
Adriano’s legacy is not the successful businesses he started from scratch, or the positive impact he had on his community, but the realization of the actual embodiment of the American Dream.
