Emily Blanchard

Emily (Congdon) Blanchard, age 87, passed away at the Colonial Nursing Home on Tuesday December 29, 2009. She is the wife of the late Alton Stowell Blanchard Jr. Emily is survived by her 2 sons, Al Blanchard and his wife Donna Q. Blanchard of Grafton and Peter Alan Blanchard of Boston, her grandchildren; David Blanchard of Framingham, Thomas Blanchard of NY, NY and Karyn Blanchard of Grafton, her great grandson, Matthew Blanchard of Framingham, her nephews, Kenneth Congdon and his partner Edith Monroe of Pembroke and William Congdon and his wife June of Stoddard, NH as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Emily was the daughter of the late Clarence Edwin and Florence Horton Congdon. She was the sister of the late Frank E. Congdon and his wife Fostine Congdon and the late Charles Congdon and his late wife Muriel Congdon. She was born in Quincy and resided in Weymouth and Braintree. Emily was a member of the King’s Daughters Willing workers Circle of Weymouth, the Athena Fellowship of East Weymouth Congregational Church, a Trustee of Pond Home Retirement Home for the aged for 15 years, A Volunteer at South Shore Hospital for 20 years, A member of the Neighborhood Garden Club of Hingham, a trustee of the Mayflower Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 65, a member of the Women’s Guild of the Union Congregational Church of Braintree. A Funeral Service will be held at the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Monday January 4 at 11 A.M. Visiting hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Sunday from 3 to 7 P.M. The Mayflower Chapter of Eastern Star will hold their service on Sunday at 6:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Emily’s memory to Apple Tree Arts Building fund, P.O. Box 75, Grafton, MA 01519.
