Barbara Mercurio of Weymouth passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022, at the age of 88. Barbara was born in Revere and was raised and educated in Brighton, attending Brighton High School. After high school she met her husband William and they moved briefly to Indiana before settling down in Weymouth where she resided over 50 years. Barbara was a longtime waitress at the Quincy IHOP and worked for a short while at the Hammett’s Company in Braintree.

Barbara loved playing bingo and poker with her family. She enjoyed volunteering for the friends of South Shore Hospital and gave much of her time to the Weymouth Senior Center. She loved traveling and cruising, with one of her favorite memories being her 50th anniversary cruise to Alaska. Above all else she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband William A. Mercurio to whom she was married for 63 years. She was the devoted mother to Guy Mercurio and his wife Carole of Arundel, ME, Donnie Mercurio and his wife Bonnie of Weymouth and Lori Bartolomeo and her husband John of Weymouth. Barbara leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Nicole, Tyler, Kelsey, Nicholaus, Danielle, Jonathan and her great grandchildren Jacob, Cameron, Griffin, Joshua, Samantha, Ryan, and Xavier. Barbara was also the sister of George Pitts of Watertown and Ann Burgess of Plympton.

A funeral mass will be held for Barbara in the spring. Updates will be made available on the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home website when a funeral mass is confirmed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Weymouth Senior Center where Barbara and Bill were both very active. Checks can be made out to Weymouth Elder Services in memory of Barbara and mailed to 182 Green Street, Weymouth MA 02191.
