Ruth “Rete” Delorey of Brockton passed away peacefully on October 1, 2021, at the age of 98. Ruth was born, raised, and educated in Weymouth. After graduating Weymouth High School class of 1941 Ruth attended the Fisher Business College. Once achieving her associates degree, Ruth married her beloved husband, George in 1946 and raised her 4 children before entering the family business, Delorey-Gammell Drywall, in 1965 working as the bookkeeper for 35 years. Ruth retired in 1986 and moved to Wolfeboro, NH with her husband where she stayed for more than 30 years.

Ruth was an avid reader and a master of handcrafts such as knitting and crocheting. When she was not doing either of those you could find Ruth in her kitchen cooking or baking, there was always a fresh plate of cookies in her house. Above all else Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, making sure that all her children were well fed, educated, and cared for. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Ruth was the daughter of the late John and Elsa Stub (Anderson), Loving mother of the late Deborah Delorey, the late Elizabeth McMahon and her husband Thomas J. McMahon III of S. Weymouth, George Delorey and his wife Patti of E. Weymouth and Ellen Delorey and her significant other Paul Sprague of Brockton, grandmother to Thomas, Amanda and Katie and Great grandmother to Mason and Kate.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Ruth on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 10-11am in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 11am in the funeral home. Donations in Ruth’s Memory can be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Boston, P.O. Box 22324 New York, NY 10087.
