Madeleine A. Cotugno passed away peacefully on April 24, 2021 at the age of 84. Madeleine was born raised and educated in Brockton. After graduating from Brockton High School she attended Northeastern University and graduated with the class of 1958. While attending Northeastern she met her future husband Anthony and they married in 1959. They settled in Weymouth where they raised their family and stayed the rest of their days. Once her kids were older Madeleine stated working and worked at State Street for more than 15 years until her retirement in the early 90s.

Madeleine had many interests and hobbies. She loved to travel with her husband and do crossword puzzles, having the confidence to do them in pen. She was passionate about classical music and would make weekly trips to classical concerts. Family camping trips to NH, ME and NY were a staple in the early years. Traveling up north was still a joy of Madeleine’s in her later years, renting a cabin regularly in N. Conway NH. Most of all Madeleine loved being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Madeleine was predeceased by her devoted husband Anthony. She was the loving mother of Charles Cotugno and his wife Kim of Washington, Paul Cotugno and his wife Laura of Colorado and Clare Cotugno of Philadelphia. She was also the cherished grandmother of Cameron, Natalie, Miranda, Dakota, and Jackson. Madeleine was also fortunate enough to be the great grandmother to 2 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life for Madeleine will be held at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home (134 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11 AM followed by a graveside service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
