Margaret “Miggie” “Meg” (Crosby) Fratus, age 87, of Abington and formerly of Roxbury/Dorchester passed away at home surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Predeceased by father James P. Crosby and mother Margaret E. Whelan, both of Dorchester. Beloved wife of Richard Fratus, loving mother of Richard Fratus (deceased) and his wife Jean of Florida, Mark Fratus and his wife Basia of East Bridgewater, Janet Logan and her husband Jim of Abington, and Joe Fratus and his wife Cherie of Duxbury. Sister to Mary Maxwell and her husband Paul of Florida and Martin Crosby (deceased) and his wife Kathy of FL/NY. Beloved grandmother of Rick, Bob and Jason Fratus, Chris and Matt Fratus, Jessica Logan and Jillian Crowley and her husband Shane, Joey (deceased) and Julia Fratus. Great grandmother to William and Andrew Fratus, Robert, Patrick and Elizabeth Fratus, Jason and Cayden Fratus, Jocelyn and Avery Supikowsky, and Patrick and Connor Crowley.
Meg worked at the Abington National Bank for 14 years where she met and stayed in touch with many friends. Gram loved her back yard pool and welcomed family, friends and friends of friends to join her in the summer fun. She vacationed in the Bahamas and Florida with her husband, Rich. Meg loved to knit and knitted hats, gloves, mittens, slippers and Irish sweaters for many of her extended family. She was an avid reader and would swap books with many in her reading circle. Meg would say that she wasn’t an artist but her paintings can be seen in the homes of many family and friends and were a favorite auction item for many of the Joey Fratus Memorial Tournaments.
Funeral arrangements for Margaret will be private and are in the care of C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located in Weymouth, MA. Meg will be interred at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Abington Public Library Gift Account at 600 Gliniewicz Way Abington, MA 021351.
