Alysa Butterworth-Jones

d. January 13, 2021

Alysa Butterworth-Jones, age 47 was suddenly called to be an angel in heaven on January 13, 2021. She was a sweet, kind soul whose tender heart cared so fondly about others. Loyal, faithful and cherishing a simple life.

Alysa was born on April 29, 1973 in Syracuse, NY as “Baby A” along with her twin sister “Baby B”. She grew up in Norwell, MA where she graduated in 1991. She went on working in the hospitality industry gifting so many with her friendly smile and positive attitude. She was a member of the team at Boston Convention Exhibition Center and has spent many years employed at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy.

Alysa leaves behind her husband Richard Bradley Jones of Cohasset, MA. The love of her life! Always calling out how lucky she was to find him…and she was. Their love was strong, and powerful. They were each other’s rock, with a love that helped them through any obstacle in their path. He truly filled her heart.

Alysa also leaves behind her parents, Audrey and Charles Butterworth of Boston, her twin sister Amy Butterworth-Frazier and husband Robert Frazier of Weymouth, MA and sister Jennifer Campbell, husband Neal Campbell of Duxbury MA. She was “Auntie Leesee” to many nieces and nephews, including Gavin, Kyle and beloved niece Courtney who she held so close to her heart. She also leaves behind her grandmother Natalie Spengler of Liverpool, NY, great-aunts Margaret Solomon and Eleanor Hajski, Lakeland, NY and uncles Gerard Spengler, Liverpool, NY, Jim Spengler, Chandler, AZ and John Spengler, Tucson, AZ and the extended members of the Jones family, Richard’s parents late Cliff and Barbara, Debbie Kurtz, Donna Mahoney, Michael Jones, and late Robert Jones, and as well as countless friends who have been support throughout her life as well as she has been to them.

Alysa was most happy when she was near the sea, as it filled her soul. It did not matter the season. Whether watching it roar during powerful nor’easters or preferably a hot summer day when she would pack up with chair in hand, beach bag of the season on her shoulder, visor overhead, shades on her face and head down for a day at the beach. Spending hours absorbing the warm sun, wiggling her toes between the sand and feeling the ocean mist as it enhanced the curls in her hair. To her a beach day was the perfect day.

It’s not surprising Alysa had a strong connection to Minot’s Ledge, known as the “I-LOVE-YOU” lighthouse with its 1-4-3 flash cycle. A lighthouse stands tall sending hope. Alysa always stood tall -taller and stronger than she may have realized she was capable of. Her love and light will continue to radiate bright on us all, as we look for her to be the beacon guiding us forward during this unimaginable time.

Alysa had a love for animals, in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Scituate Animal Hospital.

We invite family and friends to visiting hours for Alysa on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 10-12pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA.
