Beverly E. ( Groats ) Effner, 92, formerly of Binghamton and Johnson City, NY and Brockton and Weymouth, MA. went to be with Our Lord, June 6th, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
In Binghamton, she was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was a missionary and a member of the choir. She also worked for the Paracord at Endicott-Johnson Shoe.
After moving to Massachusetts in 1962, Beverly was a shoe stitcher at Dartmouth and Stride-Rite Shoe in Brockton. She finished up her working career as a monitor at the Brockton High School.
Beverly was a gifted seamstress as well as an avid crochet and knitting expert. She loved to play Bingo and loved Fascination at Nantasket Beach. She was also a staunch Red sox and Celtics fan.
Beverly is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Debra Effner of Weymouth, MA, Granddaughter Kimberly of Braintree, her daughter Judith Thomas and Grandson Mickey Thomas of Miami, Fl. and Great-Grandson Shawn all of Florida.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for Beverly on Saturday, June 15 from 4-6pm in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant Street, (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will immediately follow the visiting hours at 6pm. Interment will be at the Vestal Hills Cemetery, Vestal NY at a later date.
