Walter A. McKinnon, age 94, of Bridgewater passed away with loving family by his side on August 10, 2018. Walter was born, raised, and educated in Quincy. He entered the Army after High School and served from ’43-’46 in the 75th Infantry. When Walter returned he married his wife who he attended high school with, Dorothy, and they settled in Weymouth where they started a family. He attended Northeastern where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Walter owned and operated Walter A. McKinnon Associates for over 25 years, a Weymouth based engineering firm. He loved golf and was a member at Hatherly Country Club in Scituate for 35 years, and has been a Weymouth Rotary member since 1969.

Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy McKinnon (Faunce) and his son Richard McKinnon. He is the loving father of Wally McKinnon and his late wife Elaine of Braintree, Leslie Lydon and her late husband William of Bridgewater, Nancy McKinnon and her partner Rebecca Robinson of Stetson, ME, and his daughter-in-law Barbara McKinnon of Whitman, cherished grandfather to Cheryl and Jeffrey Larson, Karen and Laura McKinnon, and great-grandfather to Will and Ava Larson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Walter on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 3-6pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA 02190. A Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 6pm in the funeral home. Cremation and interment at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree will follow at a later date. Donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation at 775 Pleasant St. #5 Weymouth, MA 02189.
