William E. Taylor Sr., age 103, a long-time resident of Weymouth, passed away on March 17, 2018. Bill was born in Boston to the late William H. Taylor and Anne Walsh Taylor. He was the Director of Cargo Sales in the Airlines from 1937-1943 and then 1946-1959. He served his country in the Army Corps of Engineer as a Medic from 1943 to 1946. During his time in the Army he was in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium and Germany.
Bill loved boating and lived on his Owens’ Tahitian the “Kumu” for several years. He was a captain in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1970 to 1983, a Director for Mass Bay Yacht Club Association in 1983, a member of the Commodores Club of America, and Past President and Past Commodore of the South Shore Yacht Club.
He traveled a lot during his time in the airlines and after retirement he traveled extensively in the U.S., Cuba, Bahamas, Hawaii and Alaska.
Bill was the husband of the late Anne Flood Taylor and the late Nancy Elbag Taylor. He loved being a father, grandfather and great grandfather and is survived by his grandchildren, Danielle Collins and her husband Shaun of Norton, Will Taylor of Weymouth, and Derek Taylor and his wife Ashlee of South Carolina, his great grandchildren, Aryssa, Taylor, Owen and Logan. Bill is also survived by his daughter in law, Cheryl McMillan Taylor of Weymouth. He is predeceased by his son, William E. Taylor Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for Bill on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 3-5:30 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. A Memorial Service in Bill’s honor will immediately follow the visiting hours at 5:30 PM in the Funeral Home.
