Edna McLeod (Foley), age 91, of South Weymouth and formerly of Dorchester passed away after a long illness on January 17, 2018. Edna was born, raised, and educated in Dorchester. After school she went to work with the State Department of Mental Health and eventually worked her way to administration. Edna married her husband of 29 years, John McLeod, in 1969. They settled in South Weymouth where Edna has resided ever since.
Edna was a strong, caring woman who valued family, faith and friends over all else. She enjoyed quilting and square dancing, but she would tell you that her most impressive accomplishment was her family.
John McLeod, Edna's loving husband predeceased her. She is survived by 21 loving nieces and nephews, as well as Jeanne, Jack's niece; many cherished grand-nieces and nephews, and also many great-grand-nieces and nephews. Edna was also predeceased by her three brothers and two sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Edna which will be Friday January 19, 2018 from 4-8pm at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30am on Saturday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Edna’s life at 9:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth.
