Barry F. Collins Jr., age 62, a lifelong Weymouth resident passed away after a battle with cancer on November 14, 2017. After Barry graduated Weymouth High, he entered the Navy and served during the Vietnam Era. He was able to travel the world while serving his country and when he returned, Barry attended the New England School of Law. He worked as a probate officer at the Dedham Courthouse then two large Boston law firms for many years before going into teaching high school history in Roxbury. Barry loved teaching and was always very involved with the students coaching hockey, baseball, the debate team, and holding mock law competitions with his students. Barry loved the disco scene and enjoyed working as a bartender at the Red Fox in Rockland and was proud to have been stationed in Pearl Harbor during his military career. He also enjoyed tennis and was a longtime member of the Weymouth Tennis Club.
Barry is survived by his mother Jessie Collins (Brady) of Weymouth, and his loving siblings Frank Collins and his wife Sharon of Hanson, Angela Jaspon and her husband Jeremiah of FL, and Marie Collins of FL. Barry is also the loving uncle of Billy, Melanie, America, Justice, and Olivia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Barry on Thursday November 16, 2017 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Friday at 10AM for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will take place at 11AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Barry to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research at 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797 or at www.lustgarten.org/donate.
