Mary (Williams) Dow, age 79, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 22, 2017.
Mary was the loving wife of 57 years of Walter Dow and is survived by her two daughters, Lauren Marr and her husband Dan of Bedford, NH and Jo-Ellen McDonough and her husband Joe of Bridgewater and her son Andrew Dow and his wife Laura of Abington. She also leaves her grandchildren, Kayla Marr, Colin Marr and Rosemary Marr, Steven McDonough, Caroline McDonough, and Haley McDonough, and Joseph and Elizabeth Dow. Mary is the sister of Frederick Williams of Hanson, Catherine White of Sandwich and Thomas Williams of Milton.
Mary was born in Boston, grew up in Jamaica Plain and lived in S. Weymouth for 50 years before moving to Bridgewater 4 years ago. After graduating from High School, she worked for the Boston Globe and Dunn and Bradstreet as a bookkeeper before embracing her favorite passion, raising her children where she was active with Weymouth Youth Hockey as a board member for several years. Once the children were older, she worked as a teller at the South Shore Savings Bank for 10 years.
She loved boating with her family and friends, polka dancing, dog training and lunches with the Oakden Ave. group and the hockey moms. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Mary on Thursday, September 28 from 4-8 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. A Funeral Service honoring Mary’s life will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in S. Weymouth.
Donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, MA 02370.
