Beverly Hodges

d. August 11, 2017

Beverly R. (Carter) Hodges, age 84, of Weymouth passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday August 11, 2017. Beverly was born to the late Francis and Vivian Carter of Braintree. She and her husband, David, married and settled in Weymouth in 1955 where they built many fond memories with their family. In their retirement, Bev and Dave enjoyed traveling across the US and Europe, but the trips with her family to their Harbor Island home in Maine remain closest to Beverly’s heart. She was a woman of many talents who enjoyed painting, music and gardening. She always found time to get involved in groups such as Campfire Girls and Cub Scouts, all the while working as an executive accountant for South Weymouth Savings Bank. She enjoyed nothing more than beating her family at cribbage and card games , although even that took second place to her Red Sox. Beverly also remained happily active at Old South Union Church in Columbian Sq. for many years. She looked forward to her Thursday Girls Day with her friends.

Beverly was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, David A. Hodges. She is the loving mother to Cheryl Horeanopoulos and husband Kyle of Bradford, Cynthia Carr and husband Joseph of Blandford, and Douglas Hodges and wife Laura Maguire of Pembroke. Beverly is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Joseph Carr and wife Stacie of Morehead City, NC, Michael Carr of Medford, Kevin Carr of Hyannis, and Hunter and Paige Horeanopoulos of Bradford. She also leaves her sister Marjorie Miller and husband George of Hanover , and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Beverly on Friday August 18, 2017 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. A funeral service in honor of Beverly’s life will take place on Saturday August 19 at 10am in the Old South Union Congregational Church located at 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Old South Union Church Music Fund.
